England has always been a country I enjoy visiting, if there was one place in the world I would leave the islands for would be for England, especially London. It is a country that has everything I love good people, good food, football (London is home to my beloved Arsenal), shopping and beautiful countrysides.
Whenever I travel to England, Windsor is my home base where I am lucky enough to spend time with some dear family friends, Russell and Shirley. Windsor is such a beautiful little English town with its cobbled high street, parks, shops but it is also the proud home of Windsor Castle and the Great Park.
For its size, Windsor offers so many choices when it comes to restaurants. You can choose from Indian to Moroccan to Italian to English Pubs to Fish & Chips to Thai to Lebanese. And of course you can find your fast food joints, if that is your go to.

Something else that Windsor has and I am absolutely in love with and enjoy visiting every time I am there is the Windsor Farm Shop, the brainchild of his Royal Highness Prince Philip. It is as its name says a Farm Shop, which sells locally sourced goods and produce from the Royal Estates, Farms and also Great Park. So we can definitely say its quality fit for a Queen.
There is a wide range of seasonal fruits and vegetables to ethically sourced lamb, beef and pork to flowers and plants to homemade jams and breads.
You could spend your entire morning, going through the items they have on sale and they also have a little coffee shop adjacent to it, which uses the same products and produce on sale in the Farm Shop.

Another place we always go for lunch when I am visiting Windsor is The Viceroy of Windsor. It is a Indian restaurant that has been in operation for over 20 years, their tandoori chicken is my favourite and always take a side of garlic Naan with my meal.
They offer a large range of seafood, vegetarian and meat dishes either mild or hot, depending on your personal preference. You can find biryanis dishes, korma dishes, tikka masala dishes and vindaloo dishes to name just a few.

A word of advice; do come on an empty stomach as you need the space!

On this trip, I discovered through Russell and Shirley another gem of a restaurant tucked away on the cobbled streets of Peascod Street is Meimo, an authentic Moroccan Restaurant. Morocco has always been a country I have wanted to visit and the food has always been one of the driving forces behind that dream. Meimo is a short term solution until I get the chance to visit Morocco, the owner and his wife are there to welcome you and make you feel at home.
You can find most Moroccan dishes from brochettes to couscous to the dish that Moroccan Cuisine is known for the Tagine. I had the Lamb Shank Tagine, it was perfectly cooked and you have a choice of it been served with prunes and apricots or raisins and caramelised onions (I took the latter).

While you are enjoying your meal at Meimo, you should try the Moroccan beer they served; Casablanca. When it comes to my beers I am very selective and only drink a certain few and this one quickly found a place in that exclusive group.
I have come to always end my meal with a cup of black tea and at Meimo they serve theirs in the traditional Arabic tea service!

As it is England, tea is synonymous with this beautiful country and it is no surprise that you can find shops dedicated to just tea.

Although T2 is not an English Brand but an Australian one, it is in Windsor that I discovered it. As I walked into this shop, it was like I was like a child discovering Disneyland for the first time.
There were shelves from the floor to the ceiling filled with all types of teas imaginable (black teas, green teas, herbal teas, mocha teas, chai teas and fruit trees). Shelves were also stocked with beautifully designed cups and teapots. I have to say if I lived near a T2 shop I would most likely go broke.
Part II of this post will continue shortly....
